Daaem Engineering Consultancy took part in the international conference titled “Leading Excellence in Syria’s Reconstruction”, held at the Seven Gates Hotel (Sheraton) in Damascus. The event was organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) and attended by a distinguished group of experts and consultants from Syria, as well as from Arab and foreign countries, representing the fields of engineering, construction, law, and marketing.
Representing the company, Dr. Eng. Amer Al-Muradni delivered a set of key messages and directions regarding the future of contract management and construction claims in major reconstruction projects. He emphasized that Daaem continues to strengthen its position as a leading engineering consultancy house, combining technological innovation with global technical standards to ensure the success of strategic projects.
Key Messages from Daaem at the Conference
In his address, Dr. Al-Maradni stressed the importance of integrating modern technology into contract management, particularly Building Information Modeling (BIM), as a fundamental tool to enhance transparency, control costs, and prevent disputes. He presented a set of principles that define Daaem’s vision in this field:
Adopting a unified digital model through BIM to reduce technical and contractual ambiguity.
Establishing local and international technical standards from the outset, especially seismic codes and safety regulations.
Creating a Common Data Environment (CDE) to manage documents and correspondence in a synchronized and transparent manner.
Using BIM as a digital record of claims, linking events and changes to the model to reinforce credibility.
Developing specialized training programs, “BIM for Contracts”, to build strong local capacities in contract and claims management.
Implemented flexible contracts, such as design-build agreements, with clear BIM protocols to evaluate changes and claims.
Applying international best practices in early technical coordination and clash detection to prevent disputes.
Alongside his role as a certified trainer and founder of Daaem, Dr. Al-Maradni leads comprehensive engineering services in design, supervision, and execution. He actively contributes to committees within the Engineers’ Syndicate and to initiatives promoting the adoption and development of BIM locally.
Daaem affirms that technology is no longer an optional add-on, but rather the cornerstone for achieving transparency, cost control, and adherence to high technical standards—making it a fundamental pillar for the success of Syria’s reconstruction projects
